Almost every evening there is a moment when the bay of Santo Antônio de Lisboa turns copper. The white-fronted Azorean houses become silhouettes, the boats sit still on the glassy water and the mainland across the bay slowly lights up.
It’s no accident that this is the most photographed sunset on the island. It’s geography: the village faces west over a calm stretch of sea, with no buildings between you and the horizon. But the secret is when you arrive, and taking the time to sit down without rushing.
On our tours, this sunset closes a whole afternoon of history: a fortress, an old mill, stone streets and then the quiet joy of watching the day end in one of the most beautiful places in Floripa.
