Costa da Lagoa has stood the test of time precisely because it is hard to reach. There is no road: you get there by boat across Lagoa da Conceição or along an old trail. That difficulty is also what has preserved it.
On our tours we take the best of both worlds. We go out by private boat and come back on foot, at just the right pace to see the flour mill, the old mansions and the daily life of a community that still lives off the lagoon.
It’s a tour of rare anthropological value, and a reminder that some of the island’s most beautiful places only reveal themselves to those willing to walk to them.
